Course content
- Introduction. This familiarises you with our didactical concept and course philosophy as well as staff - and, of course, with your fellow participants.
- Value Chain Analysis. Describing the actors, factors and interrelations of the entire value chain, this module examines the stakeholders, and also explores the limitations and potentials of national and international value chains.
- Livestock Chains. There are two livestock specialisation modules.
1) Livestock Production module focuses on production aspects of forage, milk, meat and eggs.
2) Livestock Chain Development module analyses developments of the aspects of the milk and meat chain, such as value addition, value share, product transformation, product quality, etc.
- Professional Environment. Focusing on the role and position of professionals in their working situations, this module examines their organisational context from a number of angles. Two sub-modules, Organisational Analyses and Institutional Analyses, lead to the writing of a Professional Environment Analysis Paper, in which you analyse your own organisation or company.
- Integrated Chain Management. This module focuses on management functions, like planning, organisation, leadership and control, in relation to innovations in the chain, such as logistics, storage or quality improvements.
- Chain Entrepreneurship. This module practices the detection of chain constraints and problem solving ability from the Dutch producers' perspective.
- Research: design and implementation. This module prepares you for the thesis, and is based on your own project proposal, which is treated as case as the module proceeds. To practice all aspects of research, you will conduct a minor research project.
- Thesis. In this final module, you take your own working situation or country as your point of departure, examining a particular aspect of the livestock production chain.
