International Agribusiness and Trade
Bachelor of Agribusiness and Business Administration
Content programme
First and second year
Project work in your first year will help you form a broad overall picture of your field. Besides covering subjects such as marketing, trade and purchase management and project planning, you will get to work on problems posed by any one of a number of themes.
Your second year will start with a work placement at a business of your choice within the horticulture and food trade sector.
The second term centres on two projects, one focusing on export opportunities and export proposals in the fish sector, and one on customer service and research in the horticultural sector. During the second part of year two you will, together with four other students, set up your own business. This work will be supported by subjects such as food marketing, organisation theory, logistics, quality and cost management.
During the first two years you will take skills-training courses, and sharpen up your English language skills. In addition, you will choose a second foreign language: German or Spanish.
Third and fourth year

The programme in your third year starts with developing a complete export plan commissioned by a real company in the food and flower sector. There are various supportive topics, such as strategic management, management of export, supply-chains, organisations and customer-relationships.
The second half of the third year is spent on your work placement. We strongly advise you to take your six-month work placement somewhere outside The Netherlands. You might, for example, work as an assistant for an importer or exporter, a logistics or purchasing manager.
You choose a minor to study in the first half of your fourth year - in International Horticulture and Management, for example, or in Livestock - in which you will be free to fill in part of your curriculum as you wish.
You will also fulfill your graduation assignment with an international agribusiness organisation where you organise, conduct and present practical research on a professional issue in your chosen field and sector. This culminates in your thesis, report and defense.
