Leisure

Sports is very important in the Netherlands. The national game is soccer. The Dutch soccer association KNVB has over a million members, making it the country's largest sporting organisation. But even more people like to watch soccer. In particular when the Dutch team plays in the EC or WC, the country is entranced by the game. Complete streets turn orange, the colour of the national soccer team and traditionally the colour that belongs to the Netherlands.

Tennis, with 70,000 registered players, is the second most popular sport, ahead of athletics/running, field hockey, golf and cycling.

Many Dutch like to go hiking or cycling for relaxation in their spare time, for example on a sunday afternoon.
