Final Phase Applied Animal Science
Bachelor of Animal Husbandry
Working as a professional in animal healthcare
Are you curious about animals and their peculiarities? Would you like to learn all there is to know about a particular species? Do you think it is important that animals being kept for commercial purposes should be cared for in the best possible way, everywhere in the world? If so, you should choose to major in Applied Animal Science - your gateway to the world of scientific animal research.

Specialisation is increasingly important in all sectors of animal care, from pets to production animals. Though there are many agricultural extension workers and advisors on animal husbandry, there is also a need for people with a deep scientific knowledge of each of the main species within the husbandry system; cattle, horses, pigs or poultry.
The Applied Animal Science programme will help you specialise in the species of your choice. By studying physiology, performance factors, nutrition, animal health, animal welfare, disease control, epidemiology, biosecurity, project management and other subjects, you will be able to instigate projects for policy change, applied or scientific research, and to translate results into recommendations for everyday practice.
