Final Phase Food and Agribusiness Management
Bachelor of Agribusiness and Business Administration
Content programme
First year
The programme starts with two semesters of coursework, each introducing you to the basics of your new discipline. You will be studying subjects such as supply chain management, business communication, food marketing, export management, organisational issues and inter-cultural communication skills.

In the second semester of this year you will participate in a project that is related to International Sustainability Management. During this project you will take part in workshops about Corporate Social Responsibility, Research Management and Project Management to provide you with a good foundation for the project and also for the second year.
Second year

In the first half of the second year you will carry out a work placement of twenty weeks at an organisation related to the food and agribusiness sector (e.g. food companies such as Nestlé, Danone, Heineken, Philip Morris, Unilever). The work placement has to focus on a research project of a management topic in International Food and Agribusiness. Logistics, marketing, finance, human research management and strategy are popular topics. The placement can be done inside or outside the Netherlands, according to your career planning. In 2007/2008 and earlier, students did their work placements amongst others in Ethiopia, the Netherlands, China, Malaysia, Russia, and Syria.
The second part of year two focuses on the final thesis. This could be an investigation of how satisfied buyers abroad are with the company at which you graduate. Other possibilities for your final assignment are: a feasibility study, setting up a marketing plan for the introduction of a product on the foreign market, creating an export plan or developing a communication plan or a publicity campaign.
