Course content
- Introduction. This familiarises you with our course philosophy and staff - and, of course, with your fellow participants.
- Value-chain analysis. Describing the organisational concepts underlying the production and supply chains, this module examines the stakeholders, and also explores the limitations of supply-chain management in developing countries.
- Horticulture Chains. There are four specialisation modules: production and post harvest management, horticultural chain development, quality aspects in horticultural chains and business environment in horticultural chains.
- Professional Environment. Focusing on the role and position of professionals in their working situations, this module examines their organisational context from a number of angles. Two sub-modules, Organisational Analysis and Institutional Analysis, lead to the writing of a Professional Environment Analysis Paper, in which you analyse your own organisation or company.
- Research: design and implementation. This module prepares you for the thesis, and is based on your own project proposal, which is treated as case as the module proceeds. To practice all aspects of research, you will conduct a minor research project.
- Thesis: In this final module, you take your own working situation or country as your point of departure, examining a particular aspect of the horticulture production chain.
