Geartsje Oosterhof, born (1954) in Oostermeer, municipality Tietjerksteradeel, was raised on a dairy farm in the province of Friesland. After finishing high school she moved to Wageningen and graduated in Zootechniek (Zootechnology) at the former Landbouwuniversiteit in Wageningen. She continued to work for four years in agrarian intermediate vocational education as a tutor in animal husbandry, and following that as a tutor and graduation coordinator animal husbandry at Larenstein University in Deventer. As a tutor she also gained experience with international projects in the area of curriculum development in Russia and the Czech Republic.
Currently she is educational director at the location VHL Wageningen, the location with international bachelor and master courses in English. VHL Wageningen offers educational courses dealing with important societal themes such as sustainability, globalisation and a fair world in the area of animals, regional development, food, fair trade, horticulture and agribusiness.
