International partnership with Van Hall Larenstein
Van Hall Larenstein (VHL), University of Applied Sciences, part of Wageningen UR, runs 2+2 cooperation programmes with partners abroad. The 2+2 partnership* is based on a bachelor programme of 4 years in 2 countries. Students follow the first 2 years at the university in their home country, ending up with the required level to enter the 3rd year of a VHL course. After this, students come to the Netherlands to follow the final 2 years in a so-called final phase bachelor programme. After graduation at VHL, the international graduates can look for a job and start a professional (international) career, or continue with an academic career by starting an MSc (at Wageningen University or elsewhere).

The first partnership programmes were initiated in China in 2000 with the agricultural universities of Beijing (CAU) and Kunming (YAU). Around 500 Chinese students have come to the Netherlands in the previous decennium in order to follow and finish a bachelor course at VHL, mainly in the fields of International Agribusiness and Trade, International Horticulture and Marketing and International Water Management. Currently, VHL is establishing similar partnership programmes in other countries.
*Though 2+2 is the preferred formula, alternative options like 1+3; 1.5+2.5; 2.,5+1.5; 3+1 can be discussed as well
