Final Phase Coastal Zone Management
Bachelor of Coastal Zone Management
Career opportunities
Graduates find employment with all stakeholders involved in coastal zone management, for example NGO's, national and local authorities, consultancy firms, fishery companies and institutes, research institutes, recreation and tourism companies and maritime companies.
You can work for an international advisory agency or manifest yourself in environmental protection. Authorities can also use specialists with a coastal zone background as a trouble-shooter when dealing with problems with the fishery industry, for example. But naturally you can also develop a research career.

Pascal Zijlma from the Netherlands
alumnus
"After my studies I followed a master, but I did not finish it, although it is a good thing to continue studying. After that, I started my career. I am a water bed management consultant now. I work in the environmental work field and I am very pleased with my job. The fascinating part of it is to be meaningful for the environment, what annoys me is that there is not much money available in this work field. My ambition is to become project leader in water bed management."
Jos van Dalfsen from The Netherlands
Project coordinator at Wetsus
"After my graduation I found a job with Wetsus - Centre for Sustainable Water Technology. At the moment I am coordinating the complete educational programme within Wetsus, and I am project leader of Jet Net (Youth and Technology Network Netherlands). During your study you develop skills you use in your every-day working life, such as management, communication, writing reports, group work, etc. During my study I did not always see the purpose and added value of working in a group, but in my job I have experienced that you often work in teams on several projects, and now it is actually really useful to have a bit of a background in that."
"My world revolves around coast and sea."
"Coastal zone issues are not limited to one nation or continent."
