Hans van Rooijen

Programme director Forestry and Nature Management

Hans van Rooijen was born in Breda on June 16, 1948. He studied at Nijmegen University (nowadays called Radboud University) where he majored in Human Geography (methodology) and Urban and Regional Planning.

After several years of practice in the field, he was asked to teach Regional Planning (Ruimtelijke Planning) at which was then called 'Hogere Bosbouw en Cultuurtechnische school' (Forestry and Culturetechnical school). Via all kinds of trails in the Netherlands and abroad, he finally ended up as programme director Forestry and Nature Management at Van Hall Larenstein.

What is important for Hans is that he is able to connect education with the workfield in and outside the Netherlands through extensive networks. He tries to facilitate his team as well as possible in order to be able to teach on the highest level and to prepare students for society in the best way. Not only does Hans wish students to be contented when they finish their studies, but he also wants to create a contented workfield, which can rely on creative, enterprising graduates, who are skilful in communication and competent in their profession.
